Superintendent's Message

Dear Lexington Two Stakeholders:

We are so excited about the 2023-2024 school year!  We had a busy and productive summer,  implementing new programs and initiatives that will have a direct impact on student growth and achievement – from our district-wide Professional Learning Communities to curriculum development to the expansion of standards-based grading for all elementary students – and, we’ve polished and returned popular academic offerings like the Lex2 LAUNCH acceleration program, Early College/dual enrollment, and Lex2.5 after-school program.  Teachers and administrators participated in robust professional development opportunities over the summer. Meanwhile, we have continued making improvements to our facilities. Topping the list is construction on the new Lexington Two Performing Arts Center (L2PAC), scheduled to open early next year. This district-wide facility will be a game-changer in arts programming for our students and community! The L2PAC is the final project in a construction plan approved by voters in 2014.

We started the new 2023-2024 school year on the heels of a strong finish last year that included an estimated $13 million in scholarships, 200-plus honor graduates, and nearly 300 LIFE, HOPE and Palmetto Fellow scholars among nearly 500 graduates in the Class of 2023; 380 musicians selected for district honor performance groups; 2 Model PLC Schools among just 5 statewide and 444 in the US; 2 National Schools to Watch; a SC State Teacher of the Year finalist; a National Beta School of Distinction; and much more.

Our Lexington Two students are excelling inside and outside the classroom in academics, leadership, and service, a trend we have no doubt will continue in the 2023-2024 school year.

We are excited to have our students here for what we believe will be their best year yet!

Sincerely,

Brenda Hafner, Ed.D.
Superintendent
