The following Superintendent's Update was sent to families and staff on April 3, 2026:

Dear Lexington Two Families and Staff:

Spring break has arrived! I hope the week ahead provides some time for you to relax,  re-energize, and enjoy family and friends. Our return will bring us to the final month of the school year, and our goal as educators will be to keep the focus on finishing the school year strong and ensuring that our students are prepared for their next chapters, whether that is moving on to the next grade level or graduating and moving on to college or career.

Schools in Lexington Two and across South Carolina spent the weeks ahead of spring break reviewing for required state testing that occurs at this time of the year. This includes SC READY for grades 3-8 in English/language arts and math (grades 4 and 6 only, science as well), as well as the End-of-Course Examination Program (EOCEP) in high school core courses and for courses taken in middle school for high school credit. While most of these tests are not reflected in individual grades, they are important because they help us understand how much progress your child has made and where they might need support as they move forward.

Outside the classroom, this final stretch of the year also is filled with milestone moments for students: end-of-year concerts and plays, final matches and playoffs for spring sports teams, proms, promotion ceremonies, high school graduations, field days, and more. It can be hectic, for sure, but full of opportunities to celebrate your child’s growth this year.

We appreciate your partnership in helping students finish the year feeling confident and proud of what they’ve accomplished – and ready for the next grade level and year ahead.  Remember, our teachers, staff, and administrators are here to do whatever it takes to support your child. Please reach out anytime.

Enjoy your spring break, be safe, and we’ll see everyone back on Monday, April 13.

Sincerely,

Dr. Angela Cooper

Interim Superintendent

IMPORTANT REMINDER: ELECTRONICS AT SCHOOL

Personal electronic devices: By state law, personal electronic devices and accessories must remain off and not visible during the school day, including the time between classes and during lunch. This includes Meta Glasses, mobile phones, headphones, and more – please review the policy with your student by clicking this link. With required testing coming up across our schools, please note that if not adhering to the policy results in a testing violation such as cheating, releasing secure test content, or adversely impacting the testing environment, there are potential academic, financial, and disciplinary consequences.

NEWS & NOTES

Palmetto Silver Awards: Three Lexington Two schools  – Busbee Creative Arts Academy, Fulmer Middle School, and Northside Middle School – have been recognized with Palmetto Silver Awards from the SC Department of Education for academic achievement and student progress on State Report Cards. The awards program recognizes and rewards schools for attaining high levels of absolute performance, high rates of growth, and for making substantial progress in closing the achievement gap between groups of students. Interim Superintendent Dr. Angela Cooper noted: “Having three schools earn Palmetto Silver Awards is a strong reflection of the focused work, shared commitment, and continued progress happening across our district. We are grateful for the dedication of our school leaders, teachers, staff, students, and families who make this kind of achievement possible.”

Enroll now for 2026-2027: We’ve got a number of events this spring for families to get in-person assistance to enroll their students for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. Click this link for upcoming events. Families can register for any school at these locations, and interpreters will be on hand. Families may also register any time during school hours at their child’s school, at the district office (8 a.m.-4 p.m.), and online by clicking this link. The first day of school for the 2026-2027 school year is Wednesday, August 5.

Gavin’s Law and Erin’s Law education: As part of health and safety education in public schools, state law requires that all K-12 students receive age-appropriate instruction on the dangers and consequences of sexual extortion, as part of Gavin’s Law. The instruction is incorporated into the curriculum already in use as part of Erin’s Law, which teaches how to stay safe from sexual assault and abuse, and how to report such incidents. This school year, all elementary schools used the “Child Safety Matters”  curriculum from the Monique Burr Foundation to cover Erin’s Law and Gavin‘s Law.  Pathways to Healing met the requirement at the middle and high school levels with their “Building Healthy Communities” curriculum.  Find information on our district website about the laws by clicking here

Free Comet rides for students: A reminder that students enrolled in Lexington Two have free access to the Comet bus system. Students must present their school-issued ID card to the driver for free rides to any location within the bus system seven days a week. Routes and other information at https://catchthecometsc.gov/
