We are excited to share that Wood Elementary’s new principal for the 2026-2027 school year is someone our families and staff know well.
Andrew Price, who has served as an assistant principal at Wood for the past four years, will become principal on July 1. His hiring was approved by the Lexington Two Board of Trustees at its March 19 meeting, on the recommendation of Interim Superintendent Dr. Angela Cooper.
Mr. Price will succeed Angela Brown, who after several years as Wood’s principal has set her sights on spending more time with her grandchildren and returning to the classroom to teach. She will be greatly missed in the NeighborWood but will always be a treasured member of our Wood Elementary family.
Mr. Price started his education career in 2014 with Lexington Two as a PE teacher at the former Brookland Cayce Grammar School No. 1, later Riverbank Elementary. He became the assistant principal at Wood Elementary in the 2022-2023 school year, in the same year Mrs. Brown became the school’s principal.
Mr. Price has led with a deep commitment to students, staff, and school improvement, including being named Teacher of the Year twice, mentoring induction teachers, leading PBIS efforts, and contributing as a team leader, cohort facilitator, School Improvement Council representative, Standards-Based Grading Committee member, as well as District Physical Education Liaison. At Wood Elementary, he serves as both an instructional and operational leader, helping guide schoolwide efforts to improve attendance and strengthen discipline systems to create a safe and positive learning environment. He works closely with grade-level teams to support strong planning practices that promote high-quality instruction and student growth, and he leads the School Improvement Council in engaging stakeholders to support academic progress and school priorities. Mr. Price holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education.
Through his experiences, Mr. Price has developed the skills and perspective to lead with purpose, build strong relationships, and create a school culture where students, staff, and families feel valued.
Interim Superintendent Dr. Cooper shared: “Andrew Price is an excellent choice as Wood Elementary’s next principal. He has worked alongside Angela Brown and other members of Wood’s administrative team on initiatives that have not only raised student achievement but also created a collaborative and supportive environment for all learners.”
Mr. Price said he is looking forward to his new role: “My priorities will be to create a positive and welcoming school environment where every student can learn and grow. I want students to feel challenged, supported, and excited to come to school. I believe that strong relationships with community and families are key, and I’m committed to open communication and a school culture where everyone feels connected to our vision of Leading and Learning.”
Please join us in congratulating Mr. Price on his new role, and in wishing Angela Brown all the best for continued success.
