Surprise! FLOCK recognizes and rewards teachers

WEST COLUMBIA, SC -- Three Lexington School District 2 teachers were recognized in early October as part of House of Raeford’s new “FLOCK Loves” campaign, which spotlights incredible people and organizations across the community.

FLOCK representatives surprised the three -- Riverbank Elementary third-grade teacher Kaylee Madge, Saluda River Academy for the Arts fourth-grade teacher Stephanie Burgess and Fulmer Middle teacher Jessica Zearfoss, who teaches the moderate IDSC class -- with mum baskets and $350 Amazon gift cards. The presentations were made at their schools.

“Teachers work tirelessly to implement the life-changing work that they do day in and day out in the classroom, school, and community,” said Saluda River Principal Jim LeBlanc, who had a teacher selected for the honor.  “FLOCK provides an incredible acknowledgement and celebration for the teacher that is so well-deserved. Teachers perform at a higher level when they believe in themselves and their ability to guide their students to success.  This gesture goes a long way in helping to build teacher confidence and morale.”

Since those first presentations, six more Lexington Two teachers have been recognized: Cayce Elementary special education teacher Ryann Gaffney; Busbee Creative Arts Academy ELA teacher Bailey Pearson; Northside Middle math assistance teacher Kim Smartt; Springdale Elementary fifth grade teacher Alie Brantly; Riverbank Elementary first grade teacher Allison Jeffcoat; and Saluda River Academy for the Arts kindergarten teacher Jerrell Davis.

It’s the latest effort of House of Raeford Farms’ nonprofit outreach program FLOCK -- Faithful Love Offering for Christ’s Kingdom. FLOCK partners with charitable organizations to responsibly distribute resources — monetary gifts, product donations, and volunteer activities — to help meet the needs in communities where House of Raeford has operations.

“We wanted to do something different to highlight our schools and the amazing teachers and staff that make Lexington 2 so special,” said Chuck Underhill with House of Raeford.  “’FLOCK Loves Teachers’ has exceeded our expectations, and we are continually humbled to have the opportunity to say thank you to these incredible educators."

Teachers were selected by their administrators for their commitment to students and schools. FLOCK Loves Teachers will continue throughout the school year in the district.

“FLOCK supports Lexington Two students and programs in so many ways,” said district spokeswoman Dawn Kujawa. “We are so excited that their latest initiative includes rewarding the work of teachers. We are so fortunate for the generosity of community partners like FLOCK and House of Raeford Farms.”
