Free child ID kits available to Lexington Two families

The following letter was sent out to Lexington Two families on March 27, 2023:

Dear Lexington Two Families:

As part of the new South Carolina Child ID Law, the state’s school districts are receiving child ID kits.

Here in Lexington Two, these free kits have been distributed to all of our schools. They are available to any parent/guardian who requests one.

These are inkless, at-home kits, stored by parents/guardians, that never enter a database. This kit should take less than 2 minutes to complete and is designated to be stored solely by a parent/guardian in a cool, dry, and safe place at home.

Please understand, there is no obligation to request or use the child ID kit. However, it will allow you to have your child’s vital information, fingerprints, and DNA in a safe place should you ever need it. These kits are to be stored at home, and they should only be given to law enforcement in case of an emergency.

If you would like to request a free child ID kit, please talk with your school’s front office staff. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to your school administrator.

Thank you.
