New faces in district, school administration

WEST COLUMBIA, SC -- Lexington Two welcomes several new members of the district and school administrative teams, some for the current year and others for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. 

 

New school-level teachers and staff members will be posted on school websites over the summer.

 

DISTRICT OFFICE

 

Dr. Wendy Crotwell, Coordinator of MTSS/Early Literacy

(2025-2026)

Dr. Crotwell joins Lexington Two as Coordinator of MTSS/Early Literacy, after serving most recently as MTSS District Specialist for Elementary Schools in Richland Two.  Prior to that, Dr. Crotwell as an Adjunct Faculty Member, Early Childhood/Elementary Supervisor at the University of South Carolina; a Literacy Coach for K-5 Carolina Springs Elementary School and a second grade teacher at Lake Murray Elementary School and  Saxe Gotha Elementary School, all in Lexington 1; and started as a Special Education Teacher (ED/LD) at Batesburg-Leesville Elementary School in Lexington 3. Dr. Crotwell has a bachelor’s degree from Newberry College, master’s degree from Columbia College and an Ed.D. from Walden University. 

 

Alexis King, Director of Adult Education

(2025-2026)

Ms. King joins Lexington Two’s award-winning adult education program, after most recently serving as the district’s Coordinator of Early College and Dual Enrollment Programs, which are seeing a record number of student applicants for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. She has held that role since 2023.  She began her career in education in 2004 at Richland 1’s Columbia High School, serving as a science teacher and as director of the Academy of Biomedical Sciences. She later was an Assistant Principal of Instruction (API) at Airport High School, an Assistant Principal at Wilson High School in Florence 1, and principal at Edisto High School in the Orangeburg County School District. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of South Carolina.

 

Dr. Tammy Small, Coordinator for Staffing, Credentialing and Alternative Programs

(2025-2026) 

Dr. Small is an accomplished educational leader with over 20 years of experience in education, specializing in staffing, credentialing, and alternative certification programs. She comes to the district from Richland 1, where she most recently served as the coordinator of Teacher Quality in Human Resources. In that role, she successfully led Project RISE, an alternative certification support program that achieved an above-average Praxis passage rate, helping educators obtain certification while managing key HR functions, including tracking certified vacancies, onboarding virtual teachers, and serving as a liaison for certified personnel. Prior to that, she served with Kershaw County Schools as Assistant Principal at Pine Tree Hill Elementary and Lugoff-Elgin Middle School, where she played a pivotal role in transforming Pine Tree Hill from a Priority School to a Palmetto Silver School. She also taught at three other middle schools in Lower Richland, Sumter County, and Benton, Louisiana. She received Distinguished Reading Teacher of the Year and Lugoff-Elgin Middle School Teacher of the Year honors. She has been an active leader in SCAMLE (South Carolina Association for Middle Level Education), serving as Conference Chair for 2024 and Co-Chair from 2020-2023, and has been a presenter at numerous conferences. Dr. Smalls has a bachelor’s degree from Notre Dame College, a master’s degree from Wilmington University, and an Ed.D. from Liberty University.

 

Stephen Taylor, Director of Purchasing

Mr. Taylor joins Lexington Two as purchasing director, following roles most recently as Procurement Manager I and II with the SC State Fiscal Accountability Authority, which he joined in 2020. Prior to that, he was a Procurement Manager,  IT Auditor/Information Resource Consultant, and Summer Food Service Program Auditor (AppleOne Employment Services) with the SC Department of Social Services, and a Junior Contract Specialist with the Transportation Security Administration (Millennium Corporation). Mr. Taylor has a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina and a master’s degree from The Citadel.

 

SCHOOL-LEVEL ADMINISTRATION

 

Dr. Cederia Campbell, Riverbank Elementary

(2025-2026) 

Dr. Campbell comes to Riverbank Elementary after serving at Lexington-Richland 5’s Oak Pointe Elementary as assistant administrative principal, a role she began in August 2023. She also teaches ESOL students virtually.  Prior to that, she was a Spanish and academic assistance teacher at Oak Pointe and a teacher in that district’s FIVE Virtual Program. Dr. Campbell started her education career in Richland 2, first as a Spanish teacher at North Springs Elementary School and as an ESOL and Spanish teacher at Lake Carolina Elementary School. She received a bachelor’s degree, M.Ed. and Ed.D. from the University of South Carolina and a master’s from Southern Wesleyan University.  

 

Louis Clyburn, Brookland-Cayce High School Athletic Director/Football Coach

Mr. Clyburn brings more than 25 years of coaching experience at the high school and collegiate levels. Before coming to Lexington Two, he was the assistant head football coach and offensive coordinator at Camden High School in Kershaw County. Clyburn’s achievements as a coach in South Carolina high schools point to a leader with a talent for developing strong offenses and athletic talent. At Camden High, his teams made the 3A playoffs multiple times, averaging at or near 40 points per game for the past five years and setting school records for rushing offensive totals.  The Bulldogs won the 3A Lower State Championship in 2020, 2021, and 2023, and the team led the state of South Carolina in rushing offense in 2019. Prior to arriving at Camden in 2017,  Clyburn was head football coach and athletic director at North Central High, also in Kershaw County Schools. There, he took a football program with no wins in the early years to the playoffs over two consecutive seasons, 2012 and 2013, and was host to the first postseason home playoff game in 19 years in 2012. He was named a Region Coach of the Year and Region Athletic Director of the Year during his time there. Before moving to North Central in 2009, Clyburn was head football coach at Andrew Jackson High School in Lancaster County. Before taking his first head coaching job in high school football, Clyburn spent 15 years in roles at the collegiate level in North Carolina, first as an assistant football coach at Appalachian State University from 1995-1998,  then from 1998-2004 as an assistant football coach for the offensive line and tight ends at Duke University, where Clyburn himself was a four-year football letterman and full scholarship athlete.  Clyburn left Duke to become an assistant football coach and offensive coordinator at Lenoir Rhyne College before being selected in 2005 as an assistant football coach/recruiting coordinator at Elon University, where he also served as an assistant athletic director in 2008. Clyburn graduated from Duke University with a double major in political science and history and a minor in physical education. He received a master’s in education administration from the American College of Education.  In addition to football, he has coached boys and girls high school track and golf.

 

Chris Napier, Airport High School Athletic Director/Football Coach

Mr. Napier comes to Airport as an administrator with 15 years of coaching experience at the secondary and collegiate levels. Before coming to Lexington Two, Mr. Napier was an assistant principal at Newberry High School and served as an offensive analyst for the school’s football team. Napier has held a variety of coaching roles since first becoming a coach in 2007. In addition to his role as an offensive analyst at Newberry High School, he served as an offensive assistant at Columbia High School in Richland 1. He also has served as a head coach, wide receiver coach, offensive coordinator, running back coach, quarterback coach, offensive assistant, and offensive analyst at a number of schools, including Huntington High School, Logan High School, Nitro High School, South Charleston High School and Vinson Middle School, all in West Virginia; Fairview High School in Kentucky;  South Point High School in Ohio; Ashe County High School in North Carolina; and La Grange College in Georgia. Prior to becoming assistant principal at Newberry High School in 2023, Napier was a team lead and educational associate in the Office of Special Education Services at the SC Department of Education; a resource coordinator and transition resource coordinator with Community Access Inc./West Virginia Department of Education; and an elementary school special education teacher and high school health teacher. He started his career in education as a classroom aide in August 2008. Mr. Napier has an associate degree from Ashland Community College, a bachelor’s degree from Marshall University, and a master’s degree and Ed.S. from the University of the Cumberlands.
