Class of 2025 grads receive $16 million in scholarships

WEST COLUMBIA, SC – As many of Lexington Two’s Class of 2025 graduates are heading to college campuses this fall, they are doing so with roughly $16 million in scholarships.

 

In addition to the scholarship dollars, the estimated 550 graduates from Airport High School and Brookland-Cayce High School also had other recognitions, including nearly 50 percent qualifying for LIFE and HOPE scholarships.  

 

Here’s a look at recognitions for the two high schools by the numbers:

 

  • 212 Honor graduates (GPA of 3.5 or higher)
  • 266 LIFE and HOPE qualified scholarship recipients
  • 20 Palmetto Fellows
  • 307 graduates with Seals/Endorsements of Distinction
  • 88 graduates offered scholarships based on merit
  • 44 AP Scholars, 10 AP Scholars with Honor, 22 AP Scholars with Distinction, 12 AP Scholars with High Honors, 4 AP Capstone Diplomas
  • 26 Early College program participants, who earned college credits at no cost during the high school day
  • 26 South Carolina Seal of Biliteracy recipients
  • 26 Foreign Language Honor Society members
  • 25 Teacher Cadet Honor Students
  • 18 athletes who signed letters of intent to play in college
  • 20 graduates who signed to serve with the military

 

Career-bound graduates saved more than $200,000 by completing their training for professional certifications at the Lexington Two Innovation Center (L2IC) during the high school day, rather than taking the training post-graduation.

 

Among the in-state colleges drawing the highest numbers of Class of 2025 Lexington Two graduates this year: University of South Carolina (Columbia), Midlands Technical College, Clemson University, Newberry College, Columbia College, USC Beaufort, USC Upstate, Winthrop University,  Anderson University, and Coastal Carolina. 

 

A sampling of other in-state and out-of-state colleges accepting Lexington Two Class of 2025 graduates for the fall:  LSU, Georgia State University, Medical University of South Carolina, Wofford College, Converse College, Furman University, Presbyterian College, College of Charleston, Doane University (Nebraska), Livingstone College (North Carolina), Johnson C. Smith University (North Carolina), Shaw University (North Carolina), University of Oregon, Chicago State University (Illinois), and Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts (Colorado).
