The following information is from the South Carolina Department of Public Health regarding student vaccinations.
___
South Carolina students will return to school in August, and the South Carolina Department of Public Health reminds parents to be sure vaccines are on their child’s back-to-school list.
Children enrolled in school and child care are required to be current on certain vaccinations at the start of each school year (the start of the school year for Lexington Two students is Tuesday, August 5). This helps protect the health of children and teachers who are in group settings every day.
Current vaccination requirements for the 2025-2026 school year are available at https://dph.sc.gov/health-wellness/child-teen-health/vaccine-requirements-info and are posted on Lexington Two’s district website.
Vaccination updates for the 2025-2026 school year include:
- 7th–12th grade: One (1) dose of Tdap vaccine on or after the 10th birthday.
- 11th grade: Two (2) doses of varicella. A child with a positive history of the disease is considered immune and is exempt from this requirement.
- 5th grade: Two (2) doses of hepatitis A vaccine, with both doses received on or after the first birthday and separated by at least 6 months.
The South Carolina Department of Public Health offers vaccination clinics for 5K-high school students. Your child may be eligible for no-cost; however, there may be administration fees.
