A holiday message from our superintendent

Dear Lexington Two Family:

Winter break is here, a time to reflect on achievements of the past months as we get ready for the year ahead.

We have much to be grateful for here in Lexington Two.

We opened two new schools this fall, Riverbank Elementary and the Lexington Two Innovation Center, both equipped with state-of-the-art academic spaces and the latest building safety features. Early 2019 will see the opening of the new arena at Brookland-Cayce High, as renovations continue at other district schools.

We have more students enrolled in our Early College, dual enrollment and AP courses. Along with the 15 professional certifications available through our Innovation Center, Lexington Two graduates are entering college and career with a head start on many of their peers.

Lexington Two recently earned the distinction of being one of only two traditional public school districts in South Carolina -- and among only 373 across the US and Canada -- to be honored by the College Board with placement on the 9th Annual AP District Honor Roll. Seven of our 11 elementary and middle schools earned Excellent or Good ratings in the latest school report cards. And we earned top scores on our five-year accreditation through AdvancED, scoring 376 out of a possible 400 for our data-driven plans for continuous improvement and achievement in student learning.

I am grateful to those who contribute every day to our students’ successes -- parents who entrust us with their children; Lexington County businesses, churches and community groups that invest in our schools; citizens and civic leaders who have made building new facilities possible; and educators who help students dream and achieve.

On behalf of our 8.800-plus students and nearly 1,300 employees, I wish you a happy and safe holiday season. We look forward to seeing you in the new year.

Dr. William B. James Jr., Lexington Two Superintendent
