About Cathy Jones-Stork

I am honored to begin my eighth year serving Lexington School District Two as its K-12 ELA and social studies coordinator.  I began my career in education at the School District of Greenville County after a brief career in business marketing. I taught elementary school, Reading Recovery, and Gifted and Talented students before becoming the district's elementary ELA coordinator.  After eight years, I moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia serving as first as the district's middle school ELA coordinator and later as one of four elementary coordinators. Immediately prior to joining the Lexington Two family, I served the state of South Carolina as an Education Associate in the Offices of Standards and Learning and Early Learning at the South Carolina Department of Education.

 

I believe as educators it is our responsibility to empower learners, tall or small, with the tools and resources they need to be successful.  To me that means teaching readers, writers and historians rather than teaching reading, writing and history. It means I must maintain a learner stance - always learning, always growing.
